About Me:

I grew up on a small family farm in western Nebraska.  I'm currently a 4th year PhD Candidate in Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of California, Davis, and will complete my degree requirements by June 2013.  I use microeconomic theory to study the economics of global poverty.  I'm especially motivated by the topics of risk and poverty dynamics in rural areas, particularly in Africa.  Through my research, I am committed to outreach and service which contributes to improving livelihoods of the global poor.  In my free time I enjoy travel, cycling, running, backpacking, climbing, and generally being outside.
